This painting conjures up memories of a ski lodge we use to go to when I was a kid that was covered in dark wood paneling with huge macramé wall hangings and designs like this around every corner. The colored stripes are made from layers of encaustic (wax) paint and are slightly raised off the wood background that has a thin coat of clear encaustic medium.
Edges are left natural with a coat of Minwax
