I serendipitously completed this painting on the eve of the heavenly birthday of my very good friend Candy. While working on this painting I tried to cram all of the feelings of summer festivities into it. Fireworks, boat rides, carnivals, outdoor picnics, concerts in the park, sunny days at the beach and the company of good friends. After completing this I realized that Candy embodied so many of these summery moments. Master gardener, hostess extraordinaire, lake life goddess and picnic table guardian. She was known to enjoy a white wine and loved a breezy afternoon with friends. Her colorful personality brought so many of us together and I couldn't help but think of her when I completed this candy colored painting.
